Children entering 1st through 3rd grades will enjoy a variety of topics which will cycle through annually in trimesters. From September through November, the children will learn about Unitarian Universalist identity through selected sessions from “Free to Believe.” From there, the students transition into learning about our Judeo-Christian Heritage and the Old Testament utilizing “Picture Book Bible Tales.” From March through May, the students will learn about a variety of other cultures and beliefs through the “Picture Book World Religions.”

SPRING 2018: Our Whole Lives (OWL)

The Our Whole Lives (OWL) program is an 8-week course offered to K-1st graders. This program supports parents in educating children about birth and babies, bodies and families through stories, songs and activities. The program includes weekly take-home projects and suggestions for parents and children to do together to promote further dialog. This program is a key measure in creating a safe congregation and giving students the tools to be empowered in their personal rights.

Facilitators are trained through the Unitarian Universalist Association and its local districts across the US and Canada. This program will be held in alternating years. OWL classes meet on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. The next rotation offered will be in the spring of 2018. Students who do not opt into the Elementary OWL program will be offered a multi-age alternate curriculum, which will be announced in the fall of 2017.
