We are a community of women, men and children with diverse spiritual orientations, who come from many different backgrounds. We invite you to come visit us and learn more about us.

We seek to share a journey of spiritual growth and work together to find ways to live our faith in the world, while respecting the right to freedom of individual beliefs.

The Old Stone Church, where we meet, is located on the corner of Rt. 519 and Oak Summit Rd in Baptistown, NJ. Our phone number is 908.996.3964 or you can email us at membership@hunterdonuu.org.

Our Summer services are at 10:30 am. Services have music and singing, a time for reflection, meditation, or prayer, and a sermon or presentation. They last about an hour and are followed by coffee and conversation in the Social Area. Children who will be participate in our Religious Education programs or childcare, go directly to Dodd Hall (next to the Old Stone Church) until they join the adults at the end of the service.

Religious education for youth and children is an important part of our mission and is available during services between September and June.

Members and Friends

Our church has over 140 active members. We come from a range of religious and socioeconomic backgrounds and we value the diversity that each individual brings to our growing congregation. Our mission guides us in our goals of a safe and compassionate community, seeking our spiritual truths, affirming our interdependence, celebrating our differences, and creating a thoughtful and harmonious voice for liberal religion. Our bylaws refect our commitment to inclusivity. And we all agree on our core principles of freedom, reason and tolerance.

History and Architecture

Our congregation began in the Old Stone Church which dates back to the 1700’s. We belong to the Unitarian Universalist Association, which represents the interests of more than one thousand Unitarian Universalist congregations, on a continental scale.

An Involved Congregation with a Focus on Social Action

Community and lay leadership are core values of our congregation. These are nourished in many ways, including:

• Religious education for children, youth and adults;
• An active adult religious education program;
• Our covenant groups;
• A variety of dynamic ways to serve this congregation’s mission, through our committees and projects
• The largest committee is Social Concerns and Action, whose goal is “to build a world where each person’s inherent worth and dignity is affirmed.”
