Sue Henshaw

Sue Henshaw, Community Minister Emerita

Sue Henshaw is our Community Minister Emerita. She received her Master of Divinity from Drew University Theological School in 1996 and has completed the coursework for her Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Counseling.

Sue joined our congregation in 1988. As a member, she was both secretary and president of the board. She started ministerial coursework at Drew in 1991 and expanded her relationship with the Fellowship to serve as district consulting minister from 1994 to 1995. In 1996 she was ordained by the FUUFHC and endorsed as community minister. Since then she has served our community in countless ways including preaching, serving on committees, providing pastoral care, and participating in religious education.

Sue’s experience extends well beyond the walls of our Old Stone Church. Currently the support coordinator for Caregivers of NJ, she has served on two different boards of education; was volunteer coordinator, secretary, and executive director of the AIDS Network of Hunterdon County; served on the Clinical Pastoral Education unit of Somerset Medical Center; acted as a volunteer chaplain at the Hunterdon Developmental Center; was installed into community ministry by ARC of Hunterdon County and the Fellowship at the ARC’s Point Breeze training Center; and was director of respite services for United Cerebral Palsy of Northern, Central Southern NJ.

Sue is a founding member of the New Jersey State Committee on Inclusive Ministries, a founding re-organizational member of NJ TASH and International TASH member (formerly The Association for the Severely Handicapped), a member of the New Jersey State Institutional Chaplaincy Association, and a Hunterdon advisory board member of Progressive Center for Independent Living. She served on the initial New York U.U. Metro District Committee on Accessibility and is currently on the South-East Regional Subcommittee on Candidacy.
