Get Involved

There’s no better way to get to know our fellowship than to volunteer. Our community thrives on everyone’s participation—and it’s a great way to meet new people and foster relationships. One-time Events

Looking for ways to get involved without committing too much time? Try some of these options:

  • Organize an event based on your own special interests or knowledge
  • Greet attendees at the Sunday Service
  • Make coffee and bring snacks for coffee hour
  • Help at the monthly Saturday morning Work Party at the Food Bank
  • Mow the grass
  • Build community – make a “date” with someone you’d like to know better (meet at a park for a walk, somewhere for a meal, or a lecture/concert a the library, or a play date, etc.…)
  • Attend a Buildings & Grounds meeting or a work day and help fix things – they fix what you don’t know broke.
  • Offer meals, babysitting, or other as-needed service through the Caring Committee
  • Help with the Interfaith Hospitality Network
  • Attend a Congregational Meeting (usually in March and May)

Help with a Short-term Project

OK, so you’re ready to take the plunge into something that involves a bit more time, but still has a defined start and end date. Try one of these:

  • Help organize a potluck dinner
  • Solicit auction donations or help prepare for the fall auction
  • Inquire about a “why don’t we have this yet” project, and help organize it
  • Assist with a religious education project
  • Assist with organizing and/or participating in FUUFHC’s attendance at a community event
  • Write an article for the newsletter
  • Check the Social Action committee agendas for current event activities that might interest you
  • Help prepare for and participate in the holiday parade

Ongoing Activities

If you are looking for an ongoing way to get involved, meet with people, or help with the function of our wonderful Fellowship, here are some ideas:

  • Sing in the choir
  • Join a committee
  • Team-teach in religious education
  • Join a covenant group (monthly meetings of small special interest spiritual groups)
  • Sign-up to receive e-mails on the list serve, which include announcements, commentary, and an occasional interesting discussion
