Joanna has been with our fellowship for nine seasons. A lifelong UU, Joanna Lovell comes from a home filled with music and spiritually enriching religious freedom.
In college, she sang in the Queens Chorale at Rutgers University. She has been a member of the Collegiate Chorale, the Riverside Choral Society in NYC, the Lehigh University Choral Union in Pennsylvania, and the Atlantic Schola Cantorum in Florida.
She studied audio production and engineering at The Center for the Media Arts in NYC from 1990-1992. She spent 9 years as Assistant Manager of a major label recording studio in Manhattan.
Joanna became a choir director in 2004, beginning with the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Vero Beach, Florida with Rev. Gail Geisenhainer. Joanna has since collaborated in many worship services hosted by UU ministers and lay leaders. Her musical spirit makes the messages of a Sunday service clearer through the use of music. She is a member of the Unitarian Universalist’s Musicians Network and hopes to become a credentialed music minister.
Joanna has two teenage children. She says, “As a single parent, I have relied on the bonds formed with the church fellowship for caring and support.”
In her spare time, Joanna spearheads the Dreaming Tree Coffeehouse concert series, sings with her band, and enjoys music festivals and workshops. She is always scouting for talented musicians.
